Fortitude is an action-packed journey through history through the eyes of a family that lived it. From ancient ancestral roots in England to over four-hundred years in America, Fortitude brings our predecessors alive as it immerses the reader in the historical context in which they both struggled and thrived.
Fortitude is a family history narrative. It’s a story of steadfast courage, perseverance and resilience. Although it’s a story of a Spaulding family’s ancestral history, one of the oldest continuous family lines in America, it’s a story typical of any family that’s been part of the fabric of America since its inception. From 1600 to 2020, Fortitude gives the reader an appreciation of the faith, patriotism, grit and determination of this truly American family and a front row seat to the history of the nation they helped form, defend and cherish.
Dale weaves the story of his family together with pictures of historic records, sites and headstones, along with major world and national events that were happening concurrently with each generation of his family.

“Heartwarming and inspiring story”
As someone born and raised in Korea, this book was a great tutorial on American history through the lives of the Spaulding family. I was never a history buff, especially American history. That said, this book changed everything. This book has taught me how much courage, perseverance and resilience, along with tremendous sacrifice, our forefathers had to endure.
